Mutual Heights

ESTABLISHMENT was thrilled to undertake the design and decoration of the historic boardroom located in the iconic Mutual Heights building in Cape Town’s vibrant CBD. Our goal was to enhance this unique space while honoring its rich heritage. We curated a sophisticated color palette featuring blues, browns, blacks, greys, and neutrals, accented with vibrant jewel tones to create a balanced and inviting atmosphere. By maintaining the boardroom's generous open layout, we ensured the space exudes luxury without becoming overcrowded.

To achieve a contemporary aesthetic, we carefully selected furnishings from both local and European designers, bringing a modern touch to the classic surroundings. Art pieces were strategically suspended from the ceiling and displayed at lower levels, fostering a warm and engaging ambiance while creating an intriguing dialogue between the modern art and historic architecture. A state-of-the-art lighting track system was installed to beautifully illuminate the expansive area and highlight the impressive high ceilings, enhancing the overall lighting experience. Additionally, sculpted floral arrangements and living elements were thoughtfully incorporated throughout the space, adding organic touches that breathe life into the boardroom. Incorporating two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, we transformed the space into the ultimate two-bedroom penthouse, blending functionality with luxury. Each bedroom is designed to offer comfort and elegance, ensuring a sophisticated retreat in the heart of the city. The result is a beautifully revitalized space that seamlessly blends history with contemporary design, offering a striking environment for meetings and gatherings, while also providing an exquisite living experience.
